The purpose of the Marine Corps Reserve Association Education Trust is to support educational programs for the benefit of the Marine Corps Junior ROTC students in the form of college scholarships to highly qualified graduating seniors, as well as the posting of educational material in the field of history especially as related to national security through such donations as may be received by this trust, all within the limitations of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This scholarship will be awarded in addition to the regular scholarships awarded each year. The scholarship will be awarded to the best applicant received in the academic year and will provide an amount greater than the other scholarships. The shutdown of so much of America had a severe detrimental effect on the ability of the Trust to obtain donation for the scholarship program. That year the Trust did not receive sufficient donations to fund the scholarships ordinarily offered. In the last three years the Trust made significant progress in obtaining donations to fund scholarships for the coming years, however the Board of Trustees noticed a significant drop in the academic performance of students to include poor grades and poor SAT/ACT scores. It was quite obvious that remote learning through Zoom and other remote techniques simply did not produce the same level of learning obtained by the face-to-face techniques of in-person classroom activities. Three years ago only two applicants met the minimum requirements for our scholarships. The effects of the COVID shutdown continues to be evident in the performance of students. During the 2023-2024 academic year only seven students applied in a timely and proper manner for the scholarships being offered. Last year again only seven students applied in a timely and proper manner for the scholarships being offered to students during the 2024-2025 academic year. The scholarships awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year have been announced (see menu on the left). Note that there were 10 scholarships available, but only seven students submitted qualified applications. The application process for the 2025-2026 academic year is now available on the website. It is anticipated that once again ten scholarships will be available for 2026 graduating seniors. Please see your Marine Military Instructor for details.
